We pray and hope that you are all in the strongest of Emaan and in good health. You all are aware that cases of Covid-19 are continuing to rise rapidly across the country and the situation in London is one of the worst with 1 in every 30 people infected. The London Borough of Hounslow has recommended the closure of all places of worship in the borough and we have taken the unanimous decision with all the other Masajid in the borough to close the Hounslow Muslim Centre for prayers from the end of today (7/1/21).
This decision has not been taken lightly and the safety of our community was at the heart of this decision making process. We’re putting the safety of our congregation, our staff and our volunteers above our strong desire to maintain communal worship. Our decision has been made in consultation with senior scholars, imams and ulama of the country. In Islam, the preservation of life is of the utmost importance and a key governing principle used to formulate rulings in the Shari’ah, as is the case here.
We will review our decision after two weeks, and thereafter keep the situation under constant review.
- While the public prayer facilities in the Masjid is suspended, the following services will be continued to offer by the Masjid.
- Our Friday Jumuah Khutbah will be broadcasted in our Social Media Channels (Facebook and Youtube)We will continue to broadcast all our regular talks and lessons via our social media channels.
- In order to solace the public in this difficult time, an one hour time slot (1.30pm -2.30pm) everyday will be made available for the public to call the Masjid on 0208 577 9991 and speak to our Imaams.
- Our Community Response services will be available to support the mental and emotional health and well-being of the local elderly members of the community feeling isolated and that of loneliness.
- We will continue to run Food Hub as has been the case since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 to offer food parcels and medicines to the vulnerable.
