Hounslow Muslim Centre Ramadan Announcement
The first day of Ramadan will be on Friday 24th April 2020. There is no Taraweeh at the Mosque due to the coronavirus.
The Prophet (saw) said, 'Whoever feeds a person breaking his fast will earn the same reward as him, without anything being lessened from the reward of the fasting person'. (Tirmidhi)
Being at the heart of Hounslow (High Street) the Masjid has a duty to serve iftar daily to the many hundreds of people that require it. Last year, we had witnessed an increase in attendance for our daily iftar (we averaged 150 fasting people on weekdays and over 250 on the weekends). We expect similar if not larger turn out this year.
Ramadan is a time when the community spirit is revived and built through our services and engagement with our community.
You can either sponsor a full day of iftar at £500 on a weekday or £1,000 on the weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Alternatively, you can donate any amount to support purchasing necessary supplies to serve the meals (paper plates, cups, spoons, tea, milk, water, etc.).
In this month of seeking mercy and forgiveness, providing iftar is the ideal way to maximise your efforts and get the most out of these 30 days
Hounslow Muslim Centre (HMC) opened its doors in Ramadan 2019, with a vision to become a beacon masjid located in the Heart Hounslow. The exponential growth in our local Muslim community has meant the Masjid no longer meets the demand on its space, leading to overflowing prayer halls in most daily prayers and the arrangement of up to three Jummah Salaah on Fridays.
A remarkable, golden opportunity has arisen for us to purchase the building to the rear of the existing prayer hall, this will increase the Masjid footprint by a one third and provide an additional 200 Musallah spaces.
Insha’Allah as part of this expansion we will look to refurbish all three buildings to create one large prayer hall to accommodate over 650 people. We will also explore the construction of an additional multi-use mezzanine floor, this will further facilitate prayers and a teaching centre focused on our sisters and youth. Refurbishment will refresh the existing dilapidated warehouse, which suffers from poor temperature control, asbestos, roofing and structural issues. A new men’s wudhu facility will also be built, with sheltered access to shoe racks and to the prayer hall.
There may never be another opportunity to purchase this building to the rear, so we must act fast together and make this a reality. The Masjid has established itself and we have come a long way in 5 years Alhamdu’Lillah, please help us secure its future.
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whosoever shares in building a masjid for Allah, even if it is as small as a bird’s nest, Allah will build for them a house in Paradise.”
